The RMT program is designed to help us grow future Captains by fast tracking experienced retail managers through 12 months of training. RMTs join Trader Joe's in the role of Mate and train in two or three local stores under the direction of their Regional Vice President. In addition to the Mate qualifications listed above, the ideal RMT will also have: 5+ years of recent retail, restaurant or hospitality experience 3+ years of recent experience as a salaried Store Manager, General Manager or District Manager A stand out history of rapid promotions and increased responsibilities Ability to relocate a plus We expect a lot. But we give a lot, too. We'll be upfront; this exhilarating retail management career has an ever changing schedule and dynamic workload. But our pay and benefits more than make up for it. New Mates typically earn between $40,000 and $75,000 a year (based on our 47.5 hours work week).
